Presentation Description:
It’s been a long time coming, but the data model has finally reached center stage in most IT initiatives – BI, EDW, MDM, etc…. The primary driver for this is the raw reality that effective BI solutions require effective data models. This new-found respect for data modeling provides substantial opportunities but also inherent challenges for all of us in the BI/DW arena. For years, companies have been making substantial investments of time and money into their information systems. With all this investment into solutions like ERP/CRM applications, data warehouses and business intelligence, why is it still so challenging for employees and management to get the information they need to do their jobs? Why is reporting so imperfect that everyone needs to begin an "information quest" as part of their role instead of being delivered the information and intelligence that they require to do their job? Doesn't it make sense to have resources focused on interpreting information and making decisions rather than collecting and assembling data? If you can see beyond the idealistic promises of software vendors and recognize the value that true Decision Intelligence reporting can bring to an organization, then The Information Asset ™
is the vehicle you've been waiting for. As technology professionals, it is important for each of us to recognize, understand and apply new technology trends, direction and concepts. The Information Asset ™ and Decision Intelligence are new and unique concepts that are the logical next generation steps for BI/DW. With this progression, the data model is positioned as the center of this universe. Since you’re in the right profession to make an impact, the question remains … are you ready?Agenda:
